My ride, my way!

I could not pass up the opportunity to get out on my bike and ride. It was beautiful out, crisp and sunny. I hopped on the 'rail to trail' that is next to our house. The trail was covered in 3-4 inches of snow. I turned onto it and did not look back. I was not going to second guess my chosen route, I was going to plow through whatever lie ahead of me. Some areas had only signs of animal use, other areas were heavily traveled by pedestrians making the ride rough and tough and along the way some deeper snow drifts awaited me. The feel of this ride was to take in fresh air and be in the moment. I was in the moment alright when I suddenly hit a patch of ice and gracefully flew off my bike! Okay, maybe it wasn't so pretty, but I got up, looked around, did the old 'that didn't hurt' look, wiped the snow off and was back on my way. I was out for 2 hours and 5 minutes. I took the trail to Kingsville, biked by the kids school, went down by the lake, then back to the trail home. I felt like I was getting no where with the steady resistance from the snow and my refusal to drop out of big chain ring (if I never mentioned it before I can be stubborn, even with myself!). Chalk this ride up to strength training! It's my ride, my way!

Cheers,

Sue
