Lessons along the way.........

You're never too YOUNG or too old to learn. Sometimes it's a lesson we already learnt but need to be reminded after we make the same mistake.

Between yesterday and today's rides, here are my top 10 noteworthy lessons I learned:

1. Never let someone carry your bike over an obstacle when you know another rider has a camera on hand. Lesson learned: Won't do that again (right Kim?).
2. Never assume there's no ice under the snow.  Lesson learned: Wipeouts are inevitable (right Pak?).
3. Just because it looks warm out, doesn't mean it really is.  Lesson learned: Looks can be deceiving, it's still winter.  I shouldn't have opted for one less layer.
4. Always be prepared for a dog to chase you.  Lesson learned: High pitched scream will not always work (lucky for me it did today).
5. Hope for no wind but always expect it.  Lesson learned: Essex County should be renamed 'Land of the Wind'.
6. Ride with a plan, a purpose, a route.  Lesson learned: Have a back up plan because the unexpected can happen (detour, argh!).
7. Not a great idea to post a picture of my red rashed legs on my blog.  Lesson learned: I just realized how white my legs really are. Oh I need a tan!!
8. Never spit into the wind.  Lesson learned: Self explanatory (I didn't do that but I'm sure someone has!).
9. Don't take a shower until your body has been brought back to normal body temp.  Lesson learned: I have yet to learn, my toes turn purple, skin gets redder and itches like crazy.
10. Never share the wind:  Lesson learned: It sucks but it will make you stronger. Mind over matter, I love the wind!! Right?

They say we should learn something new everyday. Well my lessons may seem useless and perhaps recurrent, but they are my lessons.  They make me think, they keep me focused, and they give me something to blog about!!

Cheers,

Sue
